REMEMBER – Elias Hamilton Cast as Kris

A hometown artist

Ten friends in an isolated cabin are terrorized by a malevolent force that picks them off one-by-one. As each character is taken, the survivors forget that their friend ever existed, causing ripple effects that affect their personalities, relationships, and ability to survive the night.

Elias Hamilton was born and raised in Asheville, NC. He knows the heart of Western North Carolina’s creative scene better than most. A storyteller in every sense—actor, writer, artist, and educator—Elias has spent much of his young life contributing to the region’s arts community. REMEMBER marks his first feature-length horror film, and he’s excited about its local ties.

“I’ve done a little non-local film work, and I will always lean toward indie productions in this area. There’s a certain feeling when watching an indie film or being on set—you can tell everyone’s here because they want to be. We’re making this art because we have to. That sense is really strong here, and I don’t think a lot of other places have the same passion and desire.”

Like many artists, Elias felt the emotional and creative weight that followed the damage caused last year by Hurricane Helene. “We were all just really tired after the storm,” he said. “There was burnout. A lull in the arts. Finding creativity again after something so big and traumatic is hard. But I love seeing all the processing that happens through art. I’m ready for everyone to feel a little more energized.”

Elias first came to film through local indie productions like Opprobium and Medication, where he worked as a boom operator, sound tech, and camera assistant. But it didn’t take long for him to find himself drawn to the other side of the lens.

In REMEMBER, Elias is preparing to play Kris. “This character is going to be a fun challenge for me. It’s not quite the kind of role I’ve gotten to play before, but I’m really stoked to explore his perspective and emotional world.”

Elias has only played one other transgender man on screen, and he considers this role an opportunity to expand what’s visible and possible. “It’s really exciting for me to be able to play a trans character in the way that this one has been written,” he said. “I feel very honored to be someone who gets to play roles like this. And that I was reached out to.”

“I want to see more stories containing queer people that aren’t just about being queer,” he continued. “I want to be the trans guy who’s just the guy. There doesn’t need to be a conversation about it, because there’s not the same conversation if you’re straight. That kind of casual queerness—that’s the goal.”

From fiction to performance to everything in-between, Elias is someone who cares deeply about how people process emotion and memory. With REMEMBER, he brings that sensitivity and depth to the screen.

We’re proud to have Elias as part of this production—and even prouder that it’s happening right here in his hometown.
