REMEMBER – Kirana Kuic Stars as Tabitha

Our lead actress steps into the horror

Ten friends in an isolated cabin are terrorized by a malevolent force that picks them off one-by-one. As each character is taken, the survivors forget that their friend ever existed, causing ripple effects that affect their personalities, relationships, and ability to survive the night.

With another round of filming scheduled for next month and our memory-devouring creature roaming through the forest as he practices his lines, it’s time to introduce you to our cast!

We are so excited to announce Kirana Kuic as our lead character Tabitha. A gifted actor, dancer, and singer-songwriter from Asheville, NC, Kirana is more than ready to join the REMEMBER team and face off against whatever creatures are waiting for her.

“I’m stoked about this part. I’ve never done a horror movie as a lead. It’ll be fun to live in that world.”

A lifelong horror fan, she’s ready to dive headfirst into the genre that first captured her imagination. “I can’t wait to see the behind-the-scenes special effects at play!” (You can get a sneak peek at some of our make-up effects here.)

Though she’s new to leading a feature, Kirana is no stranger to the camera. She appears in the upcoming Channing Tatum film Roofman, directed by Derek Cianfrance, in a principal role. She booked the part in the midst of last year’s devastating Hurricane Helene—getting the call when her water and electricity were still shut off. “I had to scramble downtown to use the Wi-Fi. It was a surreal moment.”

Since then, Kirana has appreciated every opportunity that comes her way. “I feel like we have such a good local filmmaking community,” Kirana said. “I know a lot of people are still really struggling, but it’s been amazing to see the life of the town slowly come back.”

Kirana has been part of that revival. She’s been involved in the Asheville film community for years, even appearing in a short film by our director Jeff Corpening when she was 16. She studies the Ivanna Chubbuck technique with acting coach Rodney Rowland.

“It's fascinating to use this technique for horror,” she said. “I've never been in a situation where I’m running from an actual mist monster, so I’m having to get extra creative to find 'substitutions' from my own life. I’m definitely focusing a lot on character relationships in this story as well.”

She’s also finding a lot in common with her character. “I relate to Tabitha’s introversion. Even without the horror shenanigans that occur, don’t invite me to a cabin in the woods with a bunch of people I don’t know!”

But her connection goes deeper than surface personality. Kirana sees parts of her own past reflected in Tabitha’s arc. “Like Tabitha, I’ve dealt with trauma in a similar way—keeping to myself, even when there are people around who could help,” she said. “She’s smart and calculated. I love that about her.”

Welcome to the REMEMBER family, Kirana!
